Bollywood has always had a complicated relationship with comedy — but there’s a specific breed of film where chaos is the hero. Here are five that nail the genre beautifully.
Ludo is storytelling at its finest. Four protagonists, four versions of “home,” one wild board game of a plot. Just like a ludo token moves — forward, backward, blocked — so do the characters, crossing paths at moments you never see coming. It’s a visual treat that rewards patience.

Lootcase (Disney+ Hotstar) remains criminally underrated. A man stumbles upon a bag of cash, gives into temptation, and hauls it home. The real riot begins when both the police and the original owners come knocking simultaneously. Kunal Khemu’s comic timing is impeccable — this one deserves a bigger audience.

Ghanchakkar recently reclaimed internet attention thanks to the “Lazy Lad” reel trend — but the film itself is a tour de force. Three thieves agree to lie low after a heist, only for one to develop short-term amnesia and forget where he stashed the loot. Vidya Balan is an absolute scene-stealer.

Blackmail is dark comedy done right. A husband secretly blackmails his cheating wife — only for the wife to then ask him for money to pay the blackmailer. The irony spiral never stops, and the twists unravel only at the very end.

Andhadhun is what happens when a tragedy glass is filled and tipped over with comedy ice. Sriram Raghavan manipulates you at every turn. A fake-blind pianist, greed, and murder — blink and you lose the plot. It tickles your intelligence while keeping a deliciously dark heart.
