If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why?
Anyone can answer this question for me – It’s always been Scarlett O’ Hara, the head strong stubborn girl (portrayed beautifully by the amazing Vivian Leigh on screen) in the fictional tale – Gone with the wind.

While Elizabeth Bennet is a close second, Scarlett has always been my first choice. Portrayed with unmatched brilliance by Vivien Leigh, the headstrong and stubborn protagonist of Gone with the Wind remains, in my opinion, one of the most formidable female characters ever written.
What draws me to Scarlett is the raw, unflinching reality of her flaws; they make her joys and sorrows feel deeply personal to me. She began her journey looking at the world through rose-tinted glasses, but the harshness of reality soon taught her that one must fight tooth and nail for survival. In a society that was—and often still is—defined by men, Scarlett outshone her peers through sheer force of will. Her painstaking efforts to provide and keep her family fed ultimately surpassed even her most manipulative schemes. With Rhett Butler’s patronage and encouragement, she rose above her surroundings, yet she remained human enough to fall victim to her own romanticized dreams. To err is human, and it is that very humanity that makes her my “best lady”.
Ultimately, Gone with the Wind is a testament to hope—the buoyant force that keeps our boats sailing through the most tumultuous waters. Scarlett, with Rhett by her side, serves as the perfect captain of that resilience. Like her, I want to navigate the chaos of life with that same unwavering spirit, transforming every struggle into a stepping stone toward a stronger version of myself.

Concluding Reflections
Scarlett reminds me that even when our “rosy dreams” fail, the strength to rebuild is always within our reach. Her journey proves that a headstrong spirit is not a flaw, but a necessary tool for survival in a man’s world. Like Scarlett, I strive to find the “Ordo” within my life’s “Chao” by fighting tooth and nail for what matters.Hope is the anchor that allows us to outshine our struggles, no matter how high the tide rises. I choose to be the captain of my own boat, navigating life’s tumultuous waters with a heart that refuses to give up.
